The Beginner Plant Pack includes 5 potted plants selected from our core beginner-friendly species: Anubias, Moss, Java Fern, Cryptocoryne, and Amazon Sword. Each species was chosen because it grows under low light without CO2 and tolerates a wide range of water parameters — the same conditions that work well for shrimp and nano fish tanks.
Specific varieties within each species are selected based on current stock to ensure you receive the freshest, healthiest plants available. All five are among the most beginner-friendly plants in the freshwater hobby and are excellent choices for low-tech planted setups.
Care Notes
Each species has slightly different planting requirements. Anubias and Java Fern are epiphytes — attach their rhizomes to driftwood or rock with super glue gel or thread; never bury the rhizome in substrate. Moss can be tied to hardscape or placed loose on the substrate. Cryptocoryne and Amazon Sword are rosette plants that root in substrate with the crown above the surface.
All five species grow well under standard aquarium lighting without CO2 or fertilizer. Root tabs benefit the Cryptocoryne and Amazon Sword. Crypts may experience temporary leaf melt after transplant — this is normal; the roots survive and new growth follows.
