Neocaridina are generally more adaptable. Taiwan Bee and PRL-style Caridina need softer, more acidic water and tighter mineral control. Sulawesi Caridina require warm, alkaline water.
What tank size do freshwater shrimp need?
A mature 5-gallon tank can work for Neocaridina, while 10 gallons or more provides greater stability and is preferred for many Caridina and specialty shrimp setups.
Can freshwater shrimp live with fish?
Adult shrimp can coexist with some peaceful nano fish, but shrimplets may be eaten. Shrimp-only tanks provide the best breeding survival.
