Why We Love This Shrimp

Quarantined before every shipment
Orange Rili Shrimp are a selectively bred Neocaridina davidi variant defined by their distinctive banding pattern: bold orange on the head and tail with a clear, transparent midsection in between. The contrast between the pigmented sections and the open window in the middle is what makes Rili shrimp stand out from other Neocaridina color forms.
Like all Neocaridina, Orange Rilis are hardy, adaptable, and well-suited to a wide range of water parameters. They're active grazers that work every surface of a planted tank — glass, substrate, plants, and botanicals. In stable conditions, they breed readily and a small group will grow into a colony over time.
Care Notes
Neocaridina are forgiving, but stability matters more than perfection. Avoid sudden swings in temperature, pH, or GH — drip acclimation on arrival is essential. Do not use copper-based medications in a shrimp tank under any circumstances. Feed a small amount 3–4 times per week; remove uneaten food after 24 hours. A mature tank with established biofilm is the best environment for a new colony.

Species Spotlight
Why We Love This Shrimp
01
Striking Rili Pattern
The clear window in the midsection is what sets Rili shrimp apart — bold orange at the head and tail with a transparent break in between. It's a pattern you don't see in standard Cherry or Fire Red variants.
02
Natural Tank Cleaners
Neocaridina graze biofilm and algae constantly — working every surface of your tank around the clock without any intervention from you.
03
They Breed in Your Tank
In stable conditions, Orange Rili Shrimp reproduce readily. A small group becomes a self-sustaining colony over time — the pace depends on your water and setup.
Community Tank
Compatible Tank Mates
These species coexist peacefully with shrimp. Research before mixing — not every fish is safe.

Expert Advice
Razz Aquatics Recommendation
Orange Rilis photograph beautifully against a dark substrate — the orange sections pop and the clear midsection really shows up. Java Moss or any fine-leaf plant gives shrimplets plenty of cover and the colony constant biofilm grazing surfaces. A sponge filter is ideal.

Common Questions
Orange Rili Shrimp FAQ
What is a Rili shrimp?+
Rili shrimp are a selectively bred Neocaridina davidi color pattern with bold pigmentation on the head and tail and a transparent, clear section through the midsection. Orange Rili shrimp display this banding in orange rather than the red of Cherry or Fire Red variants.
What water parameters do Orange Rili Shrimp need?+
pH 6.5–8.0, temperature 65–80°F, GH 6–8, KH 2–4. Most conditioned tap water works well. Avoid copper-based medications and sudden parameter swings.
Is there a live arrival guarantee?+
Yes — 100% Live Arrival Guarantee on every order. Photo any DOA in the sealed bag on the day of delivery. Contact us through the Start a Claim page and we will resolve it.
Are Orange Rili Shrimp good for beginners?+
Yes. Orange Rilis are Neocaridina — beginner-friendly with wide pH tolerance and easy care requirements. They're one of the more forgiving freshwater invertebrates you can keep.
How are Orange Rili Shrimp shipped?+
Professionally packed in an insulated box with a heat or cold pack matched to your local weather forecast. Livestock ships Monday through Thursday and delivers Tuesday through Friday. Choose your preferred delivery date at checkout.
Can Orange Rili Shrimp live with fish?+
Yes, with the right species. Ember Tetras, Pygmy Corydoras, Otocinclus, and Celestial Pearl Danios are safe choices. Avoid any fish large enough to swallow a shrimp.
Live plants give shrimp constant grazing surfaces, sheltered hiding spots for shrimplets, and promote the natural biofilm growth shrimp feed on. Every plant is shrimp-safe and ships safely alongside livestock.
