Neon Tetras are one of the most popular freshwater fish in the world. The electric blue iridescent stripe and vivid red from midbody to tail create a colour combination genuinely difficult to replicate artificially. A school of 15 in a planted tank is a classic aquarium image for a reason.
Native to blackwater streams in South America, they adapt well to most stable, quality tap water. Their enduring popularity results from availability, affordability, hardiness, and colour. Every fish we ship is quarantined before departure.
Care Notes
Neon Tetras are hardy and adaptable but prefer stable, established tanks. Do not add to a new or cycling tank — they are susceptible to stress-related illness in unstable water. Feed quality small pellets or flake twice daily. They prefer planted tanks with some open swimming space and dark substrate.
Keep in groups of at least 6, ideally 10 or more. Lone Neons or small groups are nervous. A proper school in a planted tank with dark substrate shows the electric blue and red at maximum intensity. Peaceful with all tank mates and safe with adult shrimp.
